Review: The Blitz Tearoom, Weston-Super-Mare

Today I took a step back in time to the 1940’s! My Mamma took me for a surprise afternoon tea to a fantastic little quirky cafe in Weston-Super-Mare called The Blitz Tearoom.

Currently rated #2 for tea and coffee cafes in Weston, I can see why it gets such rave reviews! A lot of cafes have themes but I haven’t been to one where the theme is embraced as much as this one; the menu looked like a ration book, food and drinks are very traditional, the decor and memorabilia is brilliant and even the staff are dressed in 1940’s outfits that look fantastic!

We had the afternoon tea for two, which comprised of a pot of tea (in a very cute knitted teacosy), 4 sandwiches (without the crusts), 4 slices of homemade cake and 2 scones with jam and cream. All for less than £20 – brilliant value for money and all delicious!

The cafe was almost full whilst we were there and the other food such as jacket potatoes also looked delicious. If wanting to visit as a large group then the staff ask that you book ahead with food choices to make the service as quick and smooth as can be. The staff try and make your visit as pleasant as possible, and even all sang happy birthday to me as our food was served – such a wonderful personal touch, with other customers also joining in too!

I have read one review where a previous customer mentioned concern about the bathroom being close to the kitchen, but we saw no cause for concern and found everything clean and tidy. The Blitz’s 5 star Food Standards Agency Food Hygine rating is even more evidence that there is nothing to worry about here!

The Blitz has even put together a small booklet with 1940’s recipes and money saving tips that you can take away with you to try them out for yourself! I can’t wait to give some of them a go! Watch out on my instagram for pictures of my attempts –

Finally, you even get a loyalty card to get stamped at the end of each visit! I shall definately be back to get more stamps, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit! Thank you to the staff for making it such an enjoyable afternoon.

I’ll leave you with a picture of our fab teacosy!

Thanks for reading my review… if you are in the Weston-Super-Mare area, go and check it out for yourself – you won’t be disappointed!
