Who am I?
Hey digital world! At the risk of sounding like I’m at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting… I’m Gina and I’m a blogging virgin.
I am in my late twenties and work as civil servant in sleepy Somerset. I live with my other half Tom, bonkers Collie dog JD and my crazy cat Jessie (I’m not joking abut the crazy… can cats have bi-polar? I think she does!) We recently discovered we have a lodger in my tummy in the form of a baby, for now, known as Ricecake.
We try to live an active and healthy lifestyle; I enjoy walking, running (not sure there is as much enjoyment for this), cycling (mainly to and from the pub! – not so healthy I know) and occasionally spinning classes and most enjoyable out of all my exercise – taking part in muddy obstacle events! Tom enjoys going to the gym, running (again not sure he really enjoys it as such) and also joins me in my muddy endeavours!
I have obviously had to adjust my lifestyle slightly recently – no cycling to the pub that’s for sure, and the muddy events have been postponed until Ricecake has arrived!
In my spare time I like to be creative, upcycling furniture for our home, sewing, crocheting, drawing etc. usually involving scouring Pinterest and Google for hours! This alongside Tom’s love of DIY means that there is always something to do/decorate around the house providing lots of Pinterest seeking opportunities!
I’ve thought about starting a blog for a while now, but with the recent developments I thought now was the right time. Since finding out I was pregnant I have used the internet more than ever, looking for people in the same situations as me, feeling the same symptoms, looking for healthy recipes, what I should and shouldn’t be doing, and of course scouring Pinterest for nursery plans!
I saw the above image online whilst on one of my scours and decided now was the time to start sharing my own experiences and ideas to help other people out there doing the same as me! To share my creations and how I did them so that others will be inspired to do try something new. As well as sharing my experiences and feelings to reassure others that what they are feeling is normal and you are not alone!
Since we had created the best thing in the world, another person, and with the realisation that there was a lot to learn in the coming months and years, I want to ensure that throughout this new stage of our lives I will continue to be creative. I hope to share my creative journey with you all!
What to expect from my blog?
I intend on being completely open and honest in my blogs, so don’t just expect the pretty stuff! I will be sharing the good the bad and the ugly, as lets face it, life isn’t always plain sailing and I don’t see the point in trying to look perfect!
My blog topics I’m sure will progress alongside my pregnancy and beyond into parenthood but as I’m typing this I see a few themes I’m sure will flow through:
- Healthy eating & exercise
- Upcycling & creating things for the home
- Pregnancy & Parenting
- Life hacks/tips
- Reviews of services/products I think will be useful to you all
As I said, I’m not perfect and I am learning as I go along so I would love to hear from you; your comments, opinions, ideas, tips and tricks of your own so please comment on my posts or send me a message! Being new to this, I’d love to know if there is anything you would like me to try and cover in future posts and I will try my best to do so. I want this blog to be as interactive as possible.
If you have got this far – thank you for reading my first blog! I hope you will jump on board and join me and I hope you will find my future posts interesting and useful.
Ciao for now!
